Local artist, Shirley MacKenzie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1959, and has also lived and schooled in Montreal and Ottawa. She studied Arts Plastique at Dawson College in Montreal, working under such established Canadian artists as, Gerald Roach, Raymond Brown and Frieda Baine. Shirley also completed a second diploma in Museum Studies at Algonquin College. She has worked for many of Ottawa’s local museums as an artist/designer and curator.
She has worked as an art instructor for the Ottawa Separate School Board, and privately out of her home-based studio.
